Community Funds

Types of Community Funds

Those interested in donating to the community can donate to or set up any of these types of funds:

Community Funds

Community Funds are created by civic-minded individuals as a a primary source of grants to address the emerging needs throughout Holmes County. These unrestricted funds give HCECF flexibility to respond to the changing needs of the community, to support the creation of innovative responses to community problems, and to enhance the quality of community life.

Field of Interest Funds

Field of Interest Funds allow the donor to point their donation towards charitable needs in the community, but not a particular organization to receive distributions (i.e. for the care of the elderly, for the arts, or for medical research).  The Board then makes grants to the most appropriate organizations within the specified field of interest.  These funds allow flexibility to meet changing charitable needs in the community.

Donor-Advised Funds

A Donor-Advised Fund is a personalized fund that makes it easy for you to support the issues and organizations you care about in Holmes County. You can use cash, stock, or other assets to create a named fund, qualify for an immediate tax deduction, and choose the charities you want to support.

Designated Funds

No matter what your motivation, a Designated Fund ensures ongoing, reliable support for the nonprofit organizations you care about most.  The donor can name one or several organizations, and each year grants will be make to donor’s favorite charities in the amounts or percentages donor specifies.

Scholarship Funds

Administrative Funds

Donor specifies that distributions from donor’s fund be used to help defray the operating expenses of HCECF, and in this way, assist in the charitable efforts of HCECF.

Agency Endowment Funds

Non-profit organizations may establish Agency Endowment funds.  HCECF provides investment and administrative assistance for these organizations, allowing the organization to concentrate on its charitable mission.

Capital Campaign Funds

HCECF collects donations for the benefit of community projects for which an organization needs to raise at least a certain dollar amount (to be determined).
