Designated for Amish students who are residents of Holmes County and who are pursuing further education beyond the 8th grade. Established in 2008 by the Smith Family. Awards will be presented annually and are limited to tuition and student fees.

Raymond J. & Louella F. Patterson Scholarship for Teachers
Established in 2003
The late Betty Lauber and her husband, Thomas, established this scholarship fund to memorialize Betty's parents, Raymond J. and Louella F. Patterson. The purpose of this program is to enhance the quality of education by helping teachers receive advanced training and develop additional skills that will improve their ability to work with students in the classroom. Preference is given to current Holmes County educators who have at least two years of classroom teaching experience. Holmes County grad and undergraduate students majoring in education may also be considered.

Rebecca C. Metcalf Science Scholarship
Established in 2021
Established in 2021 to assist Holmes County undergraduate or graduate students pursuing an associate’s, bachelor’s or graduate degree in a science-related field. Those eligible must be Holmes County, Ohio residents holding at least a 3.0 GPA and have demonstrated financial need. Extracurricular activities, a job history, and/or community service will also be considered.

Richard & Judy Seaman Scholarship for Community, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship
Established in 2019
Established by Richard and Judy Seaman to assist students with high potential for success in their careers. Those eligible for this scholarship must be graduating seniors of West Holmes High School or Hiland High School, hold a 3.00 cumulative G.P.A. or higher, and possess a strong work ethic and be of good character. They should demonstrate creativity, leadership, motivation, innovation, an entrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to community.

This scholarship was established in 2013 by the children of the late couple and is being administered by the Holmes County Education Foundation (HCEF). It is awarded to support further education of local students in the fields of medicine and agricultural sciences.
