Our Endowed Scholarship Funds

Established in 2006 by the family and friends of Owen and Mildred in memory of Dr. Owen Patterson, a former Holmes County physician. Those eligible for this scholarship must be Holmes County residents pursuing advanced education and training.

Established to assist Holmes County residents pursuing trade school, vocational school, undergraduate, or graduate studies. Applicants must have graduated from a Holmes County high school or earned their GED and have demonstrated financial need.

Created in 2008 by Donald and Gretchen Waltman in honor of Gretchen's parents. This scholarship will assist Holmes County residents who will be pursuing a degree in pharmacy or education, or attending Ohio Northern University.

Established by attorney Laurel J. Schmid and awarded to a female West Holmes High School graduate pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Business or Law at Wayne College or The University of Akron. Student must demonstrate financial need and be attending part-time or full-time. If no exact match exists, the award may be given to a female student attending another Ohio college or university.

Established by family and friends in memory of Gabriel (Gabe) Koch. This scholarship will assist West Holmes High School graduating seniors that reside in Holmes County. Students must be pursuing either skilled-trades, agriculture, science, or biology. Preference will be given to those attending a trade school. Student must demonstrate financial need and have been involved in high school band or community service.

Created by Richard and Jane Graven. Awarded to Holmes County students pursuing a career in nursing.

Established in 2008 by their daughter, Beverly B. Schuler, to assist Holmes County residents having financial need. Preference will be given to a student exhibiting aptitude and creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and leadership skills for becoming an effective contributor in his or her field of study and to society.

Established by the estate of John and Ruth Heinbuch to assist Holmes County residents having financial need as they pursue their higher education goals. Those eligible for this scholarship include Holmes County residents with demonstrated financial need and who are graduating seniors of West Holmes High School.

Awarded to Holmes County students attending The Ohio State University or any of its branches. Preference given to graduating high school seniors with strong academics, involvement in student activities, and work experience. Award amount varies.

Awarded to Hiland/West Holmes graduating seniors majoring in music.
